Who drinks iced tea like this?
As you probably know, I make a weekly trip to Snowman. I have to.
Oddly enough, I do not take the same route to get home that I do to get there. Driving home, I take 5th Avenue south into Troy and go from there. Before you reach Hoosick Street, you pass a pretty interesting neighborhood. During the summer time, as you drive through, what you really notice is people flocking to the front steps of every building, as if there were a competition for who could gather the most people. You also see people of various ages riding bicycles in rather unorthodox ways. You really have to check it out some time.
Anyway…
One day, driving home, there was a little boy, maybe 13 or so years old, standing on the sidewalk all by himself. He had a bottle of Arizona iced tea in his hand. It’s one of those things you don’t make anything of unless you’re me.
Do you know what the Italian beef stance is? On the Chicago episode of Man v. Food, Adam learns the way to eat a sloppy roast beef sandwich. You basically stand with feet more than shoulder width apart, lean forward at an angle, stick your arms out, and dig in. Guy Fieri also does something stupid like this when he eats sandwiches on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
I also found an image online from some falafel place that describes a similar thing:
You can search for this shit on youtube if you don’t have any idea what I mean; I can’t figure out a way to link a video without an advertisement playing before it.
So this kid, as I’m driving by, leans forward in this stance and drinks his iced tea. Naturally, more tea runs onto the ground than into his mouth.
Just so you know, I have been drinking my iced tea like this.
