The derryX Wrestlemania XXX Food Experience
My interest in current professional wrestling is at a local maximum right now. It’s probably because they’re generating some pretty awesome content for the new WWE Network. Regardless, a while ago, my brother and I decided that we were going to do something big for Wrestlemania weekend this year mainly because of the Hall of Fame inductions of Jake “The Snake” Roberts (a current student of DDP Yoga) and Scott Hall.
So that got my wheels spinning and inspired me to think up a menu for eating on the day of the event.
We hit the Intercontinental breakfast pretty hard. Dom provided some mini-baugettes from NYC and butter.
I made us some homemade corned beef hash and fried eggs.
For lunch, I put together the DDP Yoga Salad (Spring greens tossed with pear slices, raspberries, Craisins and lemon-olive oil vinaigrette).
I also fried up some crispy Buffalo chicken tenders and served that up with some homemade buttermilk blue cheese dressing.
As the 2 hour pre-show started, I cooked us up some burgers (7 oz grass fed beef burgers on a Mastroianni Bros. roll with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, Boston lettuce, and tomato) and oven fries.
The burgers were hugely over the top, and we were pretty full by the time the event started.
But that didn’t stop Cassie from putting together some pretty incredible desserts and snacks.
She made “puppy chow” with lots of Nutella and peanut butter.
Then she went ahead and baked us Caramel, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Gooey Bars.
We were in a sugar coma by the time Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak, so it took us a couple of minutes to process how big that moment was.
And then I broke out the CM Punk Grab Bags.
And then Daniel Bryan defeated Big Daddy Cool Batista and Randy Orton to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The day was filled with lots of excitement and calories, and it’s always great to watch wrestling in great company. Dom and I are pretty hardcore eaters, so when you get us together, we could put a serious dent in the food.
We did a pretty good job that day.
