derryX promotes: CGOH’s Annual Jewish Food Festival

If you attended the All Over Albany 3rd Birthday party last Wednesday at The Point in Albany, you may have witnessed a shady transaction between myself and Daniel B., proprietor of FUSSYlittleBLOG. Witnesses have been emailing me to ask what was going on between the two of us, and have attested to seeing the following security envelope being passed from Daniel B. to me:

People have been speculating that the contents of the envelope were money for reparations due to me from the internet after the Dinosaur BBQ Debacle (reference Links Lost Love). Others have speculated that the contents were a slip of paper merely containing the words “YOU WERE RIGHT” in ALLCAPS, of course denoting screaming like a raging maniac, in reference to the same debacle.

I am here to stop all further speculation and reveal that the contents of the envelope were tickets to the Annual Jewish Food Festival put together by the Congregation Gates of Heaven, an event that Daniel B. will be participating in this year.

My experience with Jewish cuisine is fairly limited, as I grew up working in an Italian Deli in the same shopping plaza as a Kosher deli, and my patronage of the Kosher deli was frowned upon. However, I consider myself in the company of people who have heard about and researched the food enough to be ready to sample the cuisine and perhaps expand culinary horizons. Of the Jewish foods that I have sampled in the past, I have been thoroughly impressed, and this includes the awesome little toasted coconut coated kosher marshmallows you can buy around Passover.

But in all seriousness, I am encouraging people to support this event. The event has a facebook page, and will cost $15 for adult entry (people under 17 enter for free). According to the event page, there will be unlimited foods for people to try, and I am confident that the $15 entry fee will keep the attendance at a manageable level so that it doesn’t turn into the Pizza Contest that happened at Proctors in Schenectady a few months ago.

As I mentioned, Daniel B. will be participating and interacting with his public, so you’d get to meet him and at least say hello, and I’ll also be there, expanding my horizons and having a good time.

Hope to see you all there.
