When it comes to reality television shows, I am a really hard sell. While the quality was high, I used to love VH1 shows like The Surreal Life, I Love NY, Celebrity Fit Club, etc. I didn’t dedicate a huge amount of times to these shows, but I watched enough for it to cut into watching quality scripted dramas.
“Jersey Shore” was one that I had a good resistance toward, mainly because the males on that show remind me of family members I have in Brooklyn with whom I try not to associate much.
Last Wednesday, South Park aired a Jersey Shore parody episode which was amazing. Their portrayal of Snooki was hilarious. I recommend catching it on one of the 90 times they’re going to air it in the next 3 days.
Last Thursday, I watched TNA Impact live for the first time since 2005. This show was significant as they went through least 75 minutes of programming without any actual wrestling. During this time period, a girl named JWoww came out, and the announcers went crazy. Basically there is a “Jersey Shore”-like stable in TNA wrestling. It’s two people, a guy named Robbie E. and a girl named Cookie. JWoww was coming out to confront these two people. They literally prolonged her entrance for the whole 75 minutes, and in the end, it just turned out to be JWoww jumping on top of Cookie and just slapping her for 40 seconds.
With all this hype of Jersey Shore, I had to tune in. All weekend.
Friday night, MTV was airing season 1, and Saturday, they were airing season 2. I guess the season 2 finale is this week on Thursday. I’m not going to go as far as saying I am a fan of the show, but I am going to say I’m a fan of Snooki after all the viewing.
I started a campaign on twitter to try to get Snooki and JWoww to do interviews to be featured on my blog. It turns out neither of them are actually from Jersey or the Jersey Shore. Snooki is from Marlboro, NY, just south of the Capital Region of NY, and JWoww is actually originally from the Capital Region of NY, actually East Greenbush.
I need all the help I can get to feature these girls on the blog. I’ve been tweeting them all weekend. If you’re on twitter, please, please, please tweet @sn00ki and @JENNIWOWW and urge them to do an interview profile on http://derryx.com/
